Weatherford, Texas, United States Full-time Veterinary assistants I and II at TCAP are responsible for customer service, pet care, and general clinic housekeeping.
They also assist doctors and technicians with surgical and anesthetic procedures.
Those in the veterinary assistant I position clean surgical instruments, cages and perform administrative duties for the clinic team.
Veterinary assistants II are customer-facing positions, working in the front of the clinic assisting with administrative functions.
In addition, Veterinary assistants II also helps the veterinary team vaccinate pets during walk-in vaccine events at all TCAP locations.
Works in front of clinic checking in patients, managing the line, and providing information to patient owners.
Reviews patient paperwork to ensure completeness and assists clients as needed.
Prepares and administers shots to patients.
Administers tests, medications, and treatment as directed.
Restrains patients during the shot process.
Responsibility for assisting with maintenance of clinic housekeeping.
Documents client visits by creating or updating client records in the database.
Provides clients with the proper paperwork to take home.
Monitors inventory to ensure proper amounts are kept on hand.
Provides a warm and welcome environment where owners and their animals feel comfortable.
Enters all service invoices into the system daily.
Posts invoices, prepare end-of-day reports, and makes deposits.
Works as Veterinary Assistant I or Office Assistant as needed.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment strongly preferred.
Veterinary clinic experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have computer and data entry skills.
Must have strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
Must have attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Knowledge of TCAP database system.
Knowledge of TCAP products and services.
Must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts including, but not limited to, vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks.
Must be able to communicate basic veterinarian concepts to owners and be able to repeat information relayed by the veterinarian.
Knowledge of characteristics of animal behavior.
Ability to administer shots and be able to draw blood on animals.
Ability to use safety equipment.
Proficient in animal restraint.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate to clients.
The employee frequently is required to stand (up to 8 hours a day).
This position requires the ability to move up to 50 pounds (pets and equipment) repeatedly throughout the day with assistance.
In order to provide vaccines and draw blood, employees will be required to bend, kneel repeatedly and use hand-eye coordination.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
